TINY HOUSE With Spare Parts Murphy Bed | Compact But Homey

Derek (Deek) Diedricksen author of “Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts: And Whatever the Heck Else We Could Squeeze in Here,” shows Make Magazine how to make do with what got. In this tiny 68 square foot guest house, Deek has made a nice tuckaway Murphy Bed out of old garage door parts.

The house definitely has its charm and shows what someone can do with a little creativity and some carpentry skill.

THE BOOK…

Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts: And Whatever the Heck Else We Could Squeeze in Here

“Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts: And Whatever the Heck Else We Could Squeeze in Here” (The longest title for a book : )

Not only is this DIY book funny and insightful, but it’s chock full of inventive designs, illustrations, instructions and inspirational use of throwaways and reusables.

Deek has a special sense of creativity and can take random recyclable materials and turn them into charming, whimsical sturctures that you never would have thought could have been built so easily and simply.

So simple in fact, that you could probably hand this book off to a kid to build a fort.

Handy book to have around. Very entertaining. Don’t be surprised if you leave it on the coffeetable and someone wants to “borrow” it. Forever. We like this one. Alot. : )
